چکیده
Objective To examine the pain-reducing effects of intra-articular oxygen–ozone (O 2 O 3 ) injections and mechanical focal vibration (mFV) versus alone in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Methods Patients chronic pain (>6 weeks) due to osteoarthritis (II–III on Kellgren–Lawrence scale) were consecutively enrolled divided into two groups: (n = 25) -mFV 24). The visual analog scale (VAS), Knee Injury Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), Medical Research Council (MRC) Manual Muscle Testing administered at baseline (before treatment), after weeks treatment, 1 month end treatment. received three once-weekly (20 mL , 20 ?g/mL). group also underwent nine sessions mFV (three per week). Results VAS score, KOOS, MRC score significantly better than group. within-group analysis showed that all scores improved over time compared maintained even No adverse events occurred. Conclusion An integrated rehabilitation protocol involving for reduces pain, increases autonomy daily life activities, strengthens quadriceps femoris.

Intra-articular therapy in osteoarthritis.
The medical literature was reviewed from 1968-2002 using Medline and the key words "intra-articular" and "osteoarthritis" to determine the various intra-articular therapies used in the treatment of osteoarthritis. Corticosteroids and hyaluronic acid are the most frequently used intra-articular therapies in osteoarthritis. Other intra-articular substances such as orgotein, radiation synovectomy,...

BACKGROUND Knee osteoarthritis is a leading cause of chronic pain, disability, and decreased quality of life. Despite the long-standing use of intra-articular corticosteroids, there is an ongoing debate about their benefits and safety. This is an update of a Cochrane review first published in 2005. OBJECTIVES To determine the benefits and harms of intra-articular corticosteroids compared with...
متن کاملIntra-articular hyaluronans: the treatment of knee pain in osteoarthritis
The etiology of pain in osteoarthritis is multifactoral, and includes mechanical and inflammatory processes. Intra-articular injections of hyaluronans (HAs) are indicated when non-pharmacological and simple analgesics have failed to relieve symptoms. The HAs appear to reduce pain by restoring both mechanical and biomechanical homeostasis in the joint. There are five FDA-approved injectable prep...

Osteoarthritis (OA) is an increasingly important public health problem [1]. It is slowly progressive, can cause symptoms ranging from mild to disabiling. Osteoarthritis is a common cause of knee pain especially in the elderly. It is characterised by loss of articular cartilage, subchondral sclerosis, joint deterioration and osteophyte formation [1]. The current treatment for knee OA consists of...
